Apsara Afsanesara - Why such stage name? Apsara is a celestial dancer of indian mythology, perfoming in Indra's court, the temptress of graceful moves. Afsanesara is a persian word for someone who narrates tales - a storyteller  

Artist's Biography

Apsara Afsanesara is a dancer, choreographer, and educator specializing in Persian dance, Georgian dance, and selected styles from the Silkroad. She is the founder of Afsanesara Dance Academy, a platform dedicated to making these dance traditions accessible to students outside their source countries through high-quality, systematic, and culturally respectful education. Her work weaves together extensive stage experience, strong academic background, and deep artistic sensitivity.

Education

Apsara holds degrees in Iranian Studies (University of Warsaw) and Choreography. She completed her Bachelor’s studies in Choreography and Dance Techniques at the Grazyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, followed by a Master’s degree in Choreography and Dance Theory at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. She also completed postgraduate studies in Dance Theory and Criticism (FCUM), a two-year Jazz Dance Instructor Training at the Mazovian Institute of Culture, and a two-year instructor–choreographer program in Georgian dance organized by the Ileti project.

Teachers

Her specialization in Persian dance was shaped through intensive study with leading masters, including Farzaneh Kaboli, Hayedeh Kishipour, and Shahrzad Khorsandi, and many others, as well as through numerous training visits to Iran. She deepened her experience in Georgian dance during several extended study trips to Georgia, training with the teachers of the Ileti project, and continues her studies in Poland with Mikheil Dvalishvili, dancing as a soloist in his ensemble Daisi. Her understanding of Central Asian dances was enriched through specialized training in Uzbekistan. Learning directly from master artists within their cultural environments forms the foundation of her pedagogical approach.

Artistic Colaborations

As a performing artist, Apsara has collaborated with several ensembles, including Flames of Bellydance, Nava Dance Collective , Liu Yi Lan (Chinese dance), Gaya Armenia, Daisi , Gart (north caucasian dances), and her own group, the Afsanesara Dance Ensemble—the first professional Persian dance ensemble in Poland, which she founded and directs. She also is the balletmaster and choreographer of Dostłar - dance ensemble of Polish Caraite minority. She creates choreographies, cultural-educational projects, and multidisciplinary stage works.

Artistic Experience 

Apsara teaches and performs internationally, offering workshops, lectures, and artistic programs across Europe and beyond. Since 2013, she has been teaching regular weekly classes in Warsaw, while her online courses help dancers worldwide develop their technique, musicality, and understanding of cultural context.
